Marika Perros

Born in 1962 in Casablanca (Marocco)

My eye feeds on my origins, between East and West countries. My painting transpires from these influences, those of moucharabies, mosaic patterns, Arabs illuminations, the souk doors, Greek ceramics, and Italian renaissance, including the latest comics, modern and contemporary. My hand on the canvas, like a nomad, a short automatic writing, which reveals animal shapes, faces, monsters, landscapes, straight out of the Tales of Hoffmann, or a painting of Bosch. It is a constant play between abstraction and figuration, giving suggest to viewers from a known fantasy becoming himself creator-player table. I want a work in motion when the touch is alive.
